Observed in a major relief to Amravati MP Navneet Kaur Rana, who won the Lok Sabha 2019 elections from a constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes, thus, the court reversed the judgment of the Bombay High Court which set aside her Scheduled Caste certificate.
The bench comprising of Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice Sanjay Karol in the case observed and has stated that the Scrutiny Committee had validated Rana’s caste certificate after due application of mind and while considering the relevant documents.
Further, the court stated that all parties were heard and the principles of natural justice complied with.
The court stated that High Court’s interference with the Committee’s findings was not merited.
The Supreme Court in the case observed and has allowed the Rana’s appeal and has set aside the judgement of High Court’s, the court also restored the validation order passed by the Scrutiny Committee.
