Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express Faces Financial Loss

The Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express, which has been operational for five months, has not met expectations in terms of passenger occupancy and profitability.

Despite being a premium service, the train continues to suffer from low occupancy rates, with 70% of its seats remaining vacant. On average, only about 30% of seats are filled on regular days.

In light of the financial loss, the Indian Railways has proposed to reduce the train's fleet from 16 coaches to 8. The proposal has been sent to the Railway Board for approval, with a decision expected in January 2025.
