Neighbourhood first at Modi swearing-in

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Vice President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif were among the first dignitaries to arrive in the national capital on Saturday for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Sunday.

Meanwhile the security arrangements in New Delhi in view of the large number of heads of states and government expected to attend the event, a no-fly zone has been imposed and Section 144 of the CrPC enforced to prevent any untoward incident.

At least seven heads of government are expected to attend the swearing-in of the Council of Ministers of the new government. The leaders of seven countries from India's neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) have confirmed their participation.

Besides Hasina and Afif, the other leaders expected to participate are Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Mauritius PM Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay.
