All good on the Weston front for Services

DEVONPORT Services moved on quickly from their one-point defeat at the hands of South West One leaders Chew Valley by handing out a 55-7 hiding to Weston.

Weston spent much of last season battling against relegation and it took three wins in their last four outings to secure safety.

One win in seven starts this term suggests the Seasiders are in for another challenging campaign.

Although Services out-scored Weston eight-to-one on tries, team manager Kieran Leach said the game was not quite as one-sided as the margin suggests.

"Weston's pack will always try to take charge and we had to spend most of the first half subduing them," said Leach.

"A change at half time when we brought Tony Sibley off the bench for 20 minutes and stuck him in the front row made our life a bit easier.

"Once we had broken Weston down we were able to take most of the chances we created."

Services had a dream start with a Liam Jarvis try on the board after 90 seconds.
