Concerns over hazards at halted development

CONCERNS have been raised about the safety of a Plymouth building site where work has stopped leaving homes unfinished.

Construction ceased at the Whitleigh Gardens development more than a month ago and there are now fears that the site is unsecured and dangerous.

Security fencing has been damaged and it is reported that youngsters are getting into the site behind the Co-op store at Whitleigh Green.

Mark Ayres, facility manager at Four Greens Community Trust, said residents had complained about the site being a danger.

He said various contractors had been removing their equipment over several weeks but the site has especially dangerous become recently.

Cllr Lee Finn, ward councillor and chair of the council's housing and community services scrutiny panel, said he had been trying to find out who is responsible for securing the property.
