DEVON and Cornwall Police are monitoring the possibility of more riots and protests after a night of violence in Plymouth this week. Four men have been jailed in connection with a clash between two groups of protesters and riot police on Monday, August 5, amid a week of similar disorder in towns and cities across the UK.
Bricks were thrown and windows were smashed in Monday night's chaotic scenes between a 'stop the boats' group and counter, anti-fascist peace protesters. Further protests are rumoured to take place around the country in the coming days and Devon and Cornwall Police officers will be carrying out extra patrols, should further violence break out.
