Henderson not happy with Tavistock's away day capitulation
The Herald|November 08, 2024
TAVISTOCK manager Stuart Henderson pulled no punches after watching his side suffer a 5-1 mauling at Bemerton Heath Harlequins in Southern League Division One South on Wednesday night, writes Stuart James.

Unavailabilities meant that the Lambs travelled to Salisbury light, but Henderson said it was no excuse for a lacklustre and poor performance in which his side were miles off the pace.

After falling behind inside three minutes, on-loan Yeovil Town defender Jacob Shore brought Tavi level, but Bemerton were soon back in front through Leighton Young Thomas.

Ben Steer put through his own goal to make it 3-1 at the interval and any hopes of a comeback were ended when Tavistock conceded straight after the re-start before Joe Smith's second goal of the game completed an emphatic win.

"No complaints - we were poor," Henderson said. "Physicality is the biggest one for me. We are a young side, especially tonight with unavailabilities, but I can't accept some of those performances.

"If you can't win your first balls, not picking up players, allowing players to run off you and not passing players on, you are going to be in trouble and it was nowhere near good enough."
