News Café quiz could see you jet off to Miami

A NEW "fiendish" quiz night begins in Plymouth this week - with a trip to sun-drenched Florida as its grand prize.

Plymouth's newsiest restaurant, the News Café, is set to brighten the winter evenings with a host of events including a quiz league, which will send four people to visit the original News Café, in Miami.

Plymouth's Biggest Brightest Quiz starts tomorrow and will run for 16 weeks at the Royal William Yard restaurant. The winning team will land a prize of a trip to the USA for four people, where they can visit South Beach, home of the first News Café.

It will include flights and four nights in a hotel in South Beach. News Café co-owner Mike Turner said: "It's a prize that is worth a few thousand pounds. There will also be prizes every week, but the grand prize is the trip to Miami."

The winning team will be the one that has accumulated the most points over the 16 weeks - but points can be gained from activities such as a fancy dress. Mike said: "It's going to be a fiendish quiz, we're doing some crazy things.

"You've got to try to come every week, but if you miss a week you can still earn extra points. One night will be on Halloween. I want 25 teams to take part."

Teams can contain four to six members. The prize is for four people but organisers can price up a trip for a fifth person, if players want to share the cost.

The quiz night is just one of a host of new ideas Mike has come up with to attract people out at night now the evenings are dark and foreboding.
