Tavistock continue to pull clear of drop zone
The Herald
|March 18, 2025
IT is often said that a week is a long time in politics and the old cliché rings true for sport as well. Last Saturday, Tavistock went into the first of three crucial games in Southern League Division One South four points adrift of safety. Seven days later, they sit four points and five places above the drop zone.
After winning their double header with Melksham Town 3-0 and then 3-2 in midweek, Stuart Henderson's side went into Saturday's home clash with Cinderford Town in confident mood. And they gave their survival hopes a huge boost with an emphatic and well deserved 4-0 victory.
Liam Prynn and Luke Mortimore continued their rich vein of goals-coring form with another brace apiece. That is five in three games for Prynn now and four in three for Mortimore, who has had such a positive impact since joining the Lambs from Okehampton Argyle earlier this year.
"It is definitely looking a lot more rosier than it was a couple of weeks ago, but it is still a long road ahead and we still have some really important games coming up," Tavi's assistant manager Darren Spong said.
