Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb has claimed that the “playing condition” of the Siliguri Kanchanjungha stadium, which is damaged, will be restored in early April. On the other hand, Mr Deb said Bermuda grass seeds will be used on the ground during the facelift of the stadium, the process for which has already begun.
The Siliguri Municipal Corporation, which has been entrusted with the management of the stadium in May last year for five years, faced criticism as the ground became dotted with holes and other damages were caused due to the erection of structures for the programme of Chief Minister Mamata Banerrjee on 21 February.
