Fujifilm Instax cameras have been well received by families and casual photographers looking to freeze moments with the added novelty of an instant print that develops as you watch. However, these cameras would print the image the moment you press the shutter release button. The Instax Mini Evo is a hybrid camera that lets you print on demand and hence save precious sheets of film. In fact, this camera does a lot more than that.
Design & Build Quality
The Instax Mini Evo has a nice retro finish. The polycarbonate exterior has a double-tone finish combining chrome and black. The black sections have been given a leather-like texture. The body is light and sturdy enough for a casual camera at this price. But don’t expect it to withstand any rough treatment. The buttons, levers and dials give a plastic feel. This is fine unless you want to use the camera for anything other than its normal purpose.
Key Features
The Instax Mini Evo is a hybrid camera. The images are captured and played back digitally unlike the purely optomechanical Instax models. The camera accepts the credit card size (8.6 x 5.4 cm) Instax Mini film pack, which prints the image at 6.2 x 4.6 cm. For those who are not familiar with Instax system, the film pack is loaded in a chamber at the back of the camera similar to film rolls being loaded into a film camera. But unlike in the old days, these cameras provide a positive print instantly and you can watch the image developing slowly once the film is ejected from the camera.
