Tuima: We've tightened up a few screws

IF Exeter were to pick a team to travel to Sandy Park as they looked to end their worst start to a Premiership campaign, Harlequins would not be bottom of the list.

Tuima: We've tightened up a few screws

The Londoners have only twice won there in the league, the last time in 2014 when Danny Care was among their try scorers and Nick Evans, now the club’s attack coach, scored half their points in the 30-29 victory.

“We may have a good home record against them, but the training week was all about us after the defeat at Newcastle,” said second row Rusi Tuima. “We know what they bring but we have focused on getting our stuff right and imposing ourselves on them.”

The defeat at Newcastle was a shock to the system for the Chiefs who go into today’s match as the only side without a victory in the Premiership this season having become Newcastle’s first victims in 26 league games.

“It has been a tough week,” said Tuima. “We had to address some home truths and work out what we could improve on. We know the spot we are in and we put our arms around each other and took the pressure off ourselves.

Call time on this pantomime ploy

THIS 60-second shot clock twaddle. If we must continue to plough down this blind alley it needs to apply from the moment the referee awards the penalty. If the authorities are going to put some stick about at least do it properly and with conviction.
