Of all the members of Fleetwood Mac to die first, I didn’t think it would be Christine McVie. She was the most sensible one of the lot of them.

Fleetwood Mac, for those who don’t know, were the best-selling band of the seventies and they embodied all the sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll for which the decade was notorious.

They were also brilliant musicians who didn’t mind sharing the tortured intricacies of their private lives through their songs. The album they put out in 1977 while the band members’ marriages broke up and love affairs played out, fuelled by illicit drugs, is one of the bestselling of all time.
