With wedding season in full swing, Woman’s Own asks…
FRANCESCA WOODSTOCK
Should children be banned from the big day?

YES

'We hired a nanny!"

Flo Broughton, 43, runs Choc on Choc, which specialises in handmade chocolates. She lives in London with her husband Michael, 43, and their son, 11, and daughter, eight.

Our wedding took place in Bath in May 2008 and we had agreed from the outset we didn't want children at the church or during the reception.

The possibility of noise and interruptions wasn't the reason it was more about wanting the parents to have a day off being 'mum and dad'.

I wanted them to enjoy the day, without the distraction of their children. I didn't miss having any family kids there because they were only tiny.

When I told our guests, they didn't seem too fussed and we even hired nannies so parents could leave their kids with them at a local hotel.

We didn't have children as bridesmaids or pageboys either - my sister, Rose, then 27, did the job instead.
