"Let your true spirit shine"!"

In fact, restoring hope to so many is what helped Theresa through her own journey of loss and heartbreak after a painful divorce. Here, Theresa shares how she finds strength in faith, celebrates who she is and chooses joy every day

Theresa Caputo starts every day with a hopeful outlook. "I wake up and say, This is going to be a great day. I try to envision my day like rainbows and Skittles," the 56-year-old tells Woman's World. "I remind myself of all the blessings that I have and try to set intentions of paying it forward."

For Theresa, getting to this point has been a long, sometimes scary, process. In her 20s, she says that her emerging ability to communicate with lost souls caused her debilitating anxiety.

"I was sensing spirits and I didn't realize what was happening," she explains. "I might be sitting somewhere and suddenly feel my chest tighten. It was terrifying. But then I'd find out the person next to me had lost a loved one from a heart attack."

Once she came to understand her unique gift, Theresa embraced it and made it her peace mission to help others find after losing a loved one-and the Long Island, New York, mom became known as "The Long Island Medium," hosting live shows, intimate sessions and various TV series, including her most recent, Raising Spirits, now airing on Lifetime.

So who or what lifts Theresa's spirits? "Besides the people in my life my parents, my children, my granddaughter, my work family, all the people I surround myself with every day—I try to lift up myself," she says. "I work hard at creating positive energies for myself and passing it on to others." Here, Theresa shares her tips from beating anxiety to being joyful in the here and now.
