Billboard Philippines makes history by honoring pop icon Sarah Geronimo as the first homegrown and full-blooded Filipina that has received the Global Force award at the prestigious Billboard Women in Music.

For almost a century, Philippine music has birthed its share of Filipina legends, rising stars, chart-toppers, and innovators. It’s high time that we recognize our very own phenomenal women, who have blazed paths of their own design, and continue to empower a new generation of exceptional artists.

This is Billboard Philippines’ first Women In Music issue. We amplify the voices of Filipinas — past, present and future. Across the archipelago and beyond our shores, we magnify the awe-inspiring artistry and exceptional resilience of women across the music industry.

Billboard Philippines will give a platform to the country’s vast pool of musical talent. Today, more and more Filipino artists are being recognized on the global stage. Additionally, the Filipino edition will cover an eclectic array of musical genres including the soulful beats and rhythmic lyrics of urban OPM, acoustic-based arrangements of Pinoy folk-pop, catchy novelty songs, powerful hooks of Filipino rock, and many more with musicians from all over the archipelago being heard, valued, and celebrated.
