In order to witness the beauty of Nature’s tiniest marine creatures in their hidden habitats, we’ve combed through the different layers that are found in the muck in this issue of Asian Diver. Whether it’s the plastic trash that has made its way into the oceans from polluted rivers that now provides shelter for critters like octopuses, the artificial tyre reefs humans have created to attract marine wildlife that may be doing more harm than good, or the diminutive marine organisms like the algae shrimp and the “Shaun the Sheep” nudibranch that live on the algae found on the seabed – we’ve pored over the minutiae of the muck and its inhabitants to understand what makes this type of diving so thrilling.

Over 30 years later, after thousands of logged dives, I’m still drawn to her magic. I have dived the same few places hundreds of times, but each is unique – it’s like getting to know an old friend in different, subtle ways. At new sites, I have the same girlish excitement about what I will find, what I will I see,.....
For those of you who have been bitten by the scuba bug, look forward to a journey of adventures, dive buddies, and memories – and a growing storehouse of dive equipment and toys!

This issue is an homage to all the ocean warriors, sung and unsung, the tiny cogs in an enormously large wheel, working tirelessly on everyone’s behalf, hoping to inspire an entire planet to action.

I’ve hardly dived in this part of the world, so putting this edition together was very exciting. The Bay of Bengal, the Arabian and Andaman Seas, and the seas off the eastern coast of Africa hold their own underwater treasures and secrets waiting to be discovered.
