ANYONE wishing to take up breeding dominant pied budgerigars can do so quite easily by obtaining a bird of this variety from a breeder.Cock or hen does not matter, since either sex is capable of producing 50 per cent of their own kind when paired up. Of course, a cock can be paired with more than one hen and by that means more pied youngsters could be produced in a single breeding season. Dominant pieds come in all the mainstream colours – all shades of blue, green, grey green and grey – and many excellent examples have been put on the show bench over the years.
