Fun With Fashion

While Teresa Liasom and Utsav Pradhan are complete opposites in terms of personality, when it comes to their quirkily named label, munkee.see.munkee.doo, they seem to have settled on a happy compromise.

Fun With Fashion

What drew you to fashion design?

TL: I was always into fashion as far as I can remember. I recollect buying second hand fashion magazines and picking out styles to get them tailored to my size since the region I come from (Imphal, Manipur) wasn’t all that developed fashion-wise or otherwise. My family, like a lot of Indian families, could not imagine a career could ever come from it. So, I was sent to a law school in Pune. After three months, I quit the school and headed to New Delhi to pursue fashion studies at Pearl Academy of Fashion.

UP: From an early age, every time I bought new clothes, I had to get them altered to my liking. I had this weird obsession with fit. I guess that’s what triggered the process of me getting into fashion. Honestly, I had no idea there was a career option such as a fashion designer until my career counseling program in the 9th grade back in Gangtok, Sikkim. Straight after my 12th grade, like a lot of other kids, I gave it a shot, not really knowing fully what I was getting into. Fortunately, I loved studying fashion design at the Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi.
