CRAKK RUN

A couple of weeks before the event, things didn’t look great for the host club - the Canberra Hot Rod Association. Border closures, restrictions on numbers and the threat of having to cancel the event altogether weighed heavily on the organising committee. But to their credit, they pressed on regardless and kept everyone up to date with the current situation as news came to hand. Sure, some interstate entrants had decided to pull the pin as it looked like Canberra was going to shun ‘outsiders’ away from their borders, but as the event date got closer, the smiles on the faces on those committed to the event, grew larger. Then the news came through that the restrictions were lifted. The 2021 CRAKK Run was all go.

Traditionally, the Friday of the event is a low-key deal, when entrants started to arrive and sort out their accommodation etc. With most opting to give their cars a clean-up, it was a chance to unwind in preparation for the weekend ahead. Although the restrictions had been lifted, the club still had an obligation to run the event in accordance with the COVID-safe guidelines. A small sacrifice really to ensure the event still happened. As the entrants registered and received their entrant's bags, the Friday night greet and meet saw a very hot day one come to an end.
