The Grid-eMotion Fleet system is a game-changer for anyone managing public transport and commercial EV fleets. Niklas Persson, Hitachi ABB Power Grids
Swedish company ABB helped pioneer large-scale EV charging solutions in 2013, when it launched its flash-charging technology for e-buses in Geneva and Nantes. But now, a need has been identified for a more holistic approach to large-scale electric vehicle charging, and it has teamed up Hitachi to launch the new Hitachi ABB Power Grids Grid-eMotion Fleet system. Described as a full ‘grid-to-plug’ charging solution for large-scale public transport and commercial fleets, the company says it will enable operators to ‘charge more with less’. It marks a shift from a traditional EV charging product approach to one which focuses on larger-scale systems and the wider infrastructure.
