The Spa endurance race looms large, but all is not running smoothly at Team Allspeed as time runs out on them.
Having returned from Paul Ricard with a long list of jobs to do and time running out fast, we have little time for any issues with the bikes in the next few Yamaha Past Masters race meetings.
We went to Cadwell Park for the second round and the weather was horrible: pouring rain most of the weekend and the endurance bike never even turned a wheel. Thankfully the main YPM race bike behaved itself. Ben Miles had one fall in a very wet and slippery race. No damage to the rider or machine, just a loss of a guaranteed second place. However, as the rain cleared on Sunday, Ben got his first win in the YPM championship for nearly four years. So, we went home happy and with a van full of trophies, as we even managed to get two trophies for one race!
After this round we only had a couple of weeks to check the bike over and do some work to the Endurance bike. We also spoke to Andy Ball, or ‘Bally’ as most people know him. Bally is a past YPM Champion and has always tuned and set up his own bikes. He set up 2T Engineering a couple of years ago and has been sharing his tuning skills with other two-stroke owners. We asked Bally to machine us a cylinder head for the endurance-spec bike, hopefully to get the power up a bit to the same as our YPM bike.
