Hounding around on the Baskerville Challenge
Wye and Welsh LRC’s Baskerville Challenge was a challenge for both competitors and the club. Memberships Secretary, Dave Barrell, tells the story...
Even before the event started, club members were faced with a new set of challenges – from a school being built on one end of the campsite to half of the trees in the competition area being felled for timber.
The competition started on the Saturday with a well laid-out CCV Trial, care of clerk of the course, Mykul Jones. Four groups set off to tackle 10 sections. Liz Gilding from MROC provided the major spill of the day when she hit the accelerator instead of the brake. Her vehicle leapt off the top of a bank and nosedived into the base of a tree.
