Demand For Luxury Real Estate
BUSINESS ECONOMICS
|October 1 - 15, 2018
The increased exposure to global standards of living has drastically changed the way the Indian customer views luxury living.
With the increase in per capita income in urban spaces, the demand for luxury living spaces is also witnessing a noted increase. These homes tend to be in the plush locations of the city and attract the crème de la crème of society.
The expectations regarding luxury differ from person to person. With the increasing options in the luxury segment, the demands of the buyers are growing fast. Apart from exploring new locations, rooftops, advanced technological and security innovations, waste management, water utilisation, eco-friendly features, unique designs, dedicated dressing rooms, imported and hand painted art collections, exclusive libraries, community spaces like clubs, swimming pools, closed basketball courts and golf courses, the luxury segment is continuously evolving to reinvent itself. Due to the intense competition in the market, builders are trying to provide numerous luxury amenities and options to their customers.

MODI'S DILEMMA - TRUMP VS PUTIN
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's post-2014 growing proximity to the United States is seen by some analysts as having generated mistrust in Russia. Yet, despite Modi going so far as to virtually campaign for Donald Trump with the slogan “Abki Bar Trump Sarkar” and embracing him like a soulmate, it did not prevent Trump from slapping India with a 25 per cent tariff and penalty. From India’s perspective, this was not diplomacy; it was a national embarrassment— one man’s blind friendship costing the country dearly. It was a foreign policy disaster of epic proportions.

Rupee has weakened
The rupee has weakened significantly over the past year, falling from 84.7 to 89.7 against the US dollar. Its depreciation has been even sharper against the euro (9.4 per cent) and the British pound (14.3 per cent). It has also lost value against the Japanese yen and the Chinese yuan. In nominal terms, therefore, the rupee has depreciated against all major global currencies.
