Fuelling interest

In response to the critical electric power needs of vital applications like construction sites, hospitals and data centres around the world, generators manufacturers are developing powerful and largest full authority electronic, electric power engine range. In India, Uttar Pradesh accounts for the largest share because of the wide adoption of the diesel generator set in the commercial and residential sectors, growth in the count of construction projects, and high demand for low-power diesel gensets at the telecom towers in the state. The 5 kVA– 75 kVA category had the largest volume share in the recent past, which is credited to the low upkeep cost and easy obtainability of the spare parts of these variants all over India. Furthermore, the economic growth in the nation and the increase in the count of construction projects is expected to result in a high requirement for these gensets for meeting major and auxiliary power requirements.

The size of the Indian diesel generator set market was $937.1 million in 2022, and it will advance at a rate of 8.8% in the years to come, to reach $1,839.5 million by 2030, as per P&S Intelligence. Rajesh R, senior VP, defense and power solutions business, Ashok Leyland, says, “Despite improved power infrastructure in India, genset is still a necessity for all customer segments. This is primarily due to peak power deficit and reliability in grid power availability which is still a challenge in certain parts of the country. The industry as such (manufacturing & services) cannot afford outages during peak load requirements and intermittent power cuts owing to the commercial losses. Although with the improved power situation, the DG usage had become standby from prime rated power duty. But, the use of genset continues. As part of im
