Artwork has a time and place. The craft itself requires a special set of skills, either gifted and rarely acquired. Some may argue that anyone can call themselves an artist by tossing some paint over a canvas and leaving it to find itself. Many have found success doing so.

I have always been a firm believer that commissioning a piece of art is like any project. It requires careful planning, inspiration and imagination to realise the creation. Buying a car is much like commissioning a piece of art, except the outline has already been drawn. We get to fill in the gaps or customise by choosing our colours, trim level, technology and engine to finish what has already been started. It's appropriate that Volkswagen has introduced a new contemporary sedan that derives its name from the word "art" and places the suffix "eon" on the end to become established as a class apart from other models.
