ALTHOUGH DIGITALISATION WAS MUCH TALKED about topic in the pre-COVID-19 era, the pandemic and lockdown situation has underlined the importance of digitsalied manufacturing processes. Narrating his experience, Anudeep Garg, Plant Manager – Automotive Brake Systems, Gurgaon, Continental Automotive India said, “At Continental, we are consistently transforming our operations with the help of modern technologies such as augmented reality, automatic optical inspection, forward-backward traceability, automated reporting, cloud database, and so on. These technologies have paved the way for digitalisation of operations, thereby, reducing the manual work, repetitive reporting, and have significant control over manual errors. At the same time, our employees can concentrate on more skilled and creative tasks rather than being burdened with repetitive manual inspections, and reporting, etc., thus benefitting the complete value chain.”
In these unprecedented times, many manufacturing companies in the country are now looking at transforming their operations. Speaking on the same aspect, Ravindra Singh Negi, ECD, President, Havells India says, “During the COVID-19 crisis, most manufacturing organisations had to either close their production completely or operate with the reduced capacity. Hence, the pandemic situation is driving companies to adopt the digital solution to increase efficiency and flexibility in processes. Indian manufacturing ecosystem is considering digital solutions for future-proofing their manufacturing facilities to make businesses resilient and robust even in an uncertain time. For instance, our brand Lloyd’s manufacturing facility located in Ghiloth, Rajasthan is a fully automated plant which houses various robotic solution to ensure product quality, efficiency and uninterrupted business operations.”
