Almost a decade back there was high optimism in the air and the Nepalis looked forward to a country with greater connectivity — at least one or two railways, smart cities, adequate energy generation and a giant leap forward in infrastructure development. The following was the scenario as reported a decade ago: Hydro projects with capacity to generate 2000MW were under different phases of construction and if proper road connectivity was provided further 7,00010,000MW could be added in 10 years. A survey was in-progress for a 70km rail transit network of which the first phase spanning 27km could be built in ten years.
