On January 10, 2019, market regulator SEBI came up with a framework for Asset Management Companies (AMCs) to build a robust cyber security system.
The main objective behind the act was to protect data and guard against privacy breaches. The stated norms in the circular would come into effect from April 1, 2019. The move came after SEBI decided not to compromise on confidentiality, integrity and availability (CIA) of the computer systems, networks and databases.
“Cyber security includes measures and processes that are intended to prevent cyber-attacks and improve cyber resilience. Cyber resilience is an organisation’s ability to prepare and respond to a cyber-attack and to continue operation during, and recover from, a cyber-attack,” mentioned the circular.
