BEING EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT IN BUSINESS

Emotional Intelligence is extremely important and inevitable for an entrepreneur’s long term success. According to Daniel Goleman, who coined the phrase “emotional intelligence”, motivation is one of its five main pillars. He defines it as “a passion for work that goes beyond money and status”. So, EI can be defined as a set of individual social abilities or skills, which is used to regulate/control one’s thinking and action. It is the critical factor that differentiates star performers from the rest of the pack. There are some core competencies for driving the change, doing people management and accelerating transformation at workplace. Interpersonal skills are so entangled with the employee management. In the current decade there was a real pursuit for people with emotional intelligence to be hired on top rankings and senior positions. This is because an emotionally intelligent culture leads to a multiplier effect and will induce better productivity, personal/professional excellence and better communication at workplace. Every entrepreneur is trying to cope with and survive the situation during lockdown. But sometimes we get stuck as if suspended in a kind of emotional waterwheel. It is very important to hold a hang of your emotions and others as well.
