The spectrum rollout is a challenge in many cities and the situation becomes worse when we look at density of some Indian cities that are on top of the global chart. If we really want India’s economic activity to increase, we need to resolve the problem of inadequate Wi-Fi. Many countries have opened up new bands. The issue was highlighted at the 20th edition Telecom Leadership Forum organised by Voice&Data when Bharat Bhatia, President, ITU-APT opened a candid and solution-oriented discussion on Wi-Fi 6E.
“Yes when we look at Wi-Fi and the way it is congested, we understand that it is a peculiar situation in India, especially when everyone is having crucial meetings and working at the same time in an Indian household. 6E spectrum is the only way where we can unleash real support on Wi-Fi. This would be needed not only for indoors but also for rural connectivity and future 5G use-cases,” Nidhi Pandey, CTO, HPE India talked about the advantages and gravity of helping Wi-Fi 6E.
“India should take a cue from other countries and roll this out to empower all our strata in the right way. That will help us harness the real power of digital economy. Coupled with 5G, 6E can take us on a new growth trajectory altogether. A lot of industry players are endorsing this in many forums already.”
