Millie Bobby Brown’s 16th birthday on February 19 was bittersweet. To mark the occasion, the Stranger Things star shared a two-minute montage on Instagram set to Justin Bieber’s song ‘Changes’ that highlighted moments from her life in the spotlight, with screenshots of articles and comments criticising her. Among them: “When did Millie Bobby Brown go through the change??? (Menopause)” and “Millie Bobby Brown leaves Twitter after being targeted by homophobic meme.”

In her caption, Brown, who’s played Eleven on the hit Netflix show since she was 12, emphasised the importance of kindness. “Ya girls 16 :),” she began. “16 has felt like a long time coming. i feel like change needs to happen for not only this generation but the next. our world needs kindness and support in order for us children to grow and succeed.
