Tony Armstrong - ‘I couldn't be happier'

For a man who struggles with his status as a TV heartthrob, Tony Armstrong has made a career choice he may live to regret. The ABC’s News Breakfast sports presenter is about to host his first series, A Dog’s World with Tony Armstrong, and as the name suggests, it’s all about man’s best friend. And who doesn’t love a guy who loves animals?

“Upon reflection, it might not have been the best move,” Armstrong laughs when WHO points out this is only going to make him more popular. “I had a mate who said, ‘You know what’s going to happen?’ There’s someone, somewhere laughing like an evil villain that they’ve managed to do this. I swear I only did it because I love dogs.’’

Since hanging up his footy boots and switching to a television career, the handsome 32-year-old has become a fan favourite with a growing legion of admirers, something he admits he finds “weird”.
