WHAT'S NEXT FOR CHARLENE?

There was a strong sense of déjà vu at Nice airport in France on March 21 as Princess Charlene boarded a private jet without her family to leave Monaco. The secret trip marks the second time the former Olympic swimmer, 44, has fled her husband's principality in the French Riviera just days after returning home following mysterious medical treatment.

"I don't find it a shock that Charlene has left Monaco again," Brittani Barger, deputy editor of website Royal Central, exclusively tells WHO. “Everything with her illness has been rather secretive. The palace has given some information, but you get the feeling there's more to her illness than they let on."

It has been a difficult year for the princess, who spent over six months separated from her 7-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, in 2021 while she convalesced in South Africa due to a "severe sinus infection". Just 11 days after her November homecoming, Charlene was moved to a secret facility for further treatment.
