10 Things Not To Say To A Pregnant Woman

We’re not sure why, but seeing a pregnant woman seems to invite insensitive questions and comments from other people. While some of them mean well (others are downright rude), it is still not an excuse. So the next time you’re talking to a pregnant woman, keep in mind these things you definitely shouldn’t say to her.

1 You’re huge!

Fun fact: a pregnant woman knows her belly is big – she is literally carrying a growing human baby. But that doesn’t mean it is an invitation for rude comments like this. Commenting on the size of a pregnant woman’s belly can make her feel self-conscious, especially if she is not even that far along in her pregnancy.

2 Are you sure you’re not having twins?

Another fun fact: a pregnant woman has gone for multiple appointments with her OB/GYN, who has done ultrasound scans to monitor if the baby is doing well, and also to find out how many babies are in there. So the pregnant woman probably has a pretty good idea if she is carrying twins or not. Asking a pregnant woman if she is carrying twins is just another horrible way of telling her she is huge. Whichever way you say it, no pregnant woman wants to hear that.

3 Are you gaining enough weight?
