‘I’ve been following The Country Food Trust’s activities with admiration since it was founded’

Trust in good, local food

As we edge towards the end of this awful and unforgettable year, I’m beginning to think about the many, many ways in which the Coronavirus pandemic has changed us. There are quite a few negatives (let’s not go there) but when it comes to the positive consequences of recent events, surely a greater sense of community and a newfound concern for our neighbours has to be high on the list.

Early on we were all taken by surprise when shop shelves were stripped bare and long supermarket queues became a common sight. The unexpected focus on food also highlighted the plight of those families and individuals who don’t have enough to eat and struggle to put a meal on the table. That renewed awareness has prompted people all over the UK to donate groceries or raise funds for needy neighbours and complete strangers alike. While here in the Cotswolds a remarkable charity that been working away, creating a unique bridge between the countryside and the most vulnerable in society.
