Dr. Krishnadas Nanath, Faculty and Data Scientist

Dr. Krishnadas Nanath is currently a faculty and Data Scientist at Middlesex University Dubai Campus in the Information Systems Area (Data Science and MIS). He worked as Assistant Professor at IMT Dubai and is also a visiting Professor at IIM Indore (Dubai Campus) in Information Systems area. He is also the lead corporate trainer for Cloud Computing certification courses organized by Global Science and Technology Forum in Singapore.

With the drive of technological change (more computational power, easy storage, powerful tools) and the growth of piling colossal data in organizations waiting to be mined, analytics pervaded in the curriculum of several higher education programs. However, applications of Business Analytics (BA) is permeating all industry verticals (finance, marketing, HR Analytics, IT and others) today and hence making it vital to include Data Science and BA as core of several higher education programs than just optional modules.

It is lamented in the Indian as well as in the Western higher education sectors that Business School education is lacking in industry relevance. It has been blamed that B-Schools are using an outdated curriculum, having less focus on skill-building, unable to establish ‘industry connect’ and failing to impact graduate attributes that are valued by today’s employers such as problem-solving and decision-making skills, leadership, work effectively as a team member, intrapreneurship, and the ability to grasp and manage complexity and dynamics in organizations and in the profession. Both employers and management educators are of the view that there is a gap between B-School academia and industry, that they couldn’t do much to bridge this gap.
