What A Hoot!

Tell us more about how you filmed the series?

The series was filmed at the Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, a former airfield in Essex, over eight months, using six remote cameras plus wildlife photographers. We wanted to show the challenges the owls face in order to survive winter, mate and raise their chicks. It’s a critical period.

This area in Essex is home to all five British species of owl. why did you decide to concentrate on barn owls and little owls?
