STANDING in the sand on a pristine beach, the groom feels like the luckiest guy alive as he gazes at his beautiful bride. He’d be forgiven for having a feeling of déja vu, seeing as it’s the second time they’re doing this – and she’s wearing the exact same gown as before.
Janez Vermeiren is in awe as Juliana Vasconcelos joins him, wearing the same gorgeous dress she wore to their 2016 wedding at his childhood home in Constantia, Cape Town. This time though, it’s just the two of them, their two young sons, an officiant, and some seagulls at the intimate island affair.
The couple recently renewed their vows in the Maldives and it was a special occasion for their family.
“The renewal of the vows was my idea,” Juliana (37) tells us as she and the former Top Billing presenter chat to YOU via WhatsApp from a luxury resort in the Maldives. “We were going on holiday and I thought we should do something special for us and the kids.
“The past few years haven’t been easy,” Juliana says. “We went through lockdown and moved cities, so we wanted to do something for the kids now that they’re older and understand a bit more.”
She arranged for the ceremony to be held on the beach of Niyama Private Islands at midday, followed by a few hours of exploring the island, then a candlelit dinner – and the way it all panned out was everything she’d hoped for and more.
