The new normal as they say. 2020’s filth is reminiscent of the 2015 utopian film Equals starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult where the characters are mentally stabilized and all emotions and most illnesses are eradicated, and any member of the society who shows emotions is considered a threat. Aside from the visually satisfying palette of the costumes—almost clinical yet clean, streamlined silhouettes and androgynous looks, the plot isn’t too far from where we’re headed.
