With Merdeka just around the corner, you might want to pay these iconic places a visit.
HOUSE OF ARTS AND CULTURE
Speaking of cultural heritage, Central Market has always been the one-stop centre that everyone should visit to find out more about what this multi-racial country has to offer. Standing at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Central Market was originally built in 1888 as a wet market by Yap Ah Loey, the city’s Chinese Kapitan and the structure was further improvised in 1930s to house more vendors. The zones in the market such as Lorong Melayu, Lorong India and Lorong Cina offer local and international visitors a good range of quality products as well as batik painting, Chinese calligraphy writing and henna art designing experience. Here’s a bonus for dear art lovers, do not forget to also visit the Art House Gallery and Central Market Lane to see masterpieces made by renowned local artists while you are there. The best part is how easy it is to get there: hop on GoKL (Purple Line) for a free ride from Bukit Bintang to Central Market or simply take the LRT to Pasar Seni Station.
