The Double Ender concept came to existence after spending over a decade bush flying in Africa and Alaska by inventor and pilot Alec Wild. It was designed to counter the most common causes of accidents in bush flying. It was then given the greatest amount of visibility one can imagine, something more along the lines of what is commonly found in helicopters, rather than fixed-wing aircraft. The instruments have been reduced to the bare necessities. Performance has been maximized and geared towards maneuverability and slow flight. With 260 horsepower available to the pilot, the power to weight ratio exceeds what is normally found in this category of aircraft.
First flight
The prototype first flew in 2010. After the initial test flights and hours built up around its home airport, it was headed to Alaska.

Taking Flight On Another World
The Mars Helicopter, Ingenuity, is a technology demonstration model to test powered, controlled flight on another world for the first time. It hitched a ride to Mars on the Perseverance rover. Once the rover reached a suitable "airfield" location, it released Ingenuity to the surface so it could perform a series of test flights over a 30-Martian-day experimental window.
