VQ Warbirds B-24 Liberator

There’s just something elegant in seeing a heavy bomber such as this in the traffic pattern. If, like me, you have a soft spot for the B-24 Liberator, you’ll be excited to see that this is an impressive 1/12-scale almost-ready-to-fly (ARF) model. It provides not only excellent quality and flight performance but also a truly unique RC warbird experience. With the B-24’s rich aviation history, it is great to see a serious model like this offered with so many scale details and options. VQ Warbirds also has an almost-ready-to-cover version.

UNIQUE FEATURES

With a wingspan of 110 inches, the B-24 is certainly not small. Everything comes nicely packaged with significant bundles of hardware and parts. Included are several scale details including Fowler flaps, “roll-up” bomb-bay doors, multiple gun turrets, and dummy radial engines for the nacelles. In addition, the nicely covered model has a great assortment of panel lines and rivets printed directly onto the covering material. Assembly is straightforward, and the model’s parts fit is excellent, which makes assembly a joy.

Because it’s a four-engine bomber, anything related to the power system needs to be done four times. Plus, with all the included details, such as the movable turrets and so on, there are more assemblies to make and install on the model than a typical ARF. So assembly does take a bit more time to complete, but the result is well worth it.

PRODUCT REVIEW: RC PLANE STANDS BENCHTOP MODEL

I’m a sucker for shop stuff. I buy tools I will probably never use just because they are cool, or I might need to use them someday. When Glen from RC Plane Stands reached out about a review, however, I knew as soon as I browsed their website that I would be receiving something I would use a lot, maybe even daily.
