Womenare catching up to men when it comes to golf. Lee-Anne Pace breaks down the mental tricks that she uses to drive the game forward
MEET THE PLAYER LEE-ANNE PACE
No longer just the official sport of corporate team building days and your father-in-law’s favourite hobby, golf is growing. “When I started, we didn’t have a tour,” says Lee-Anne Pace about her early days as a pro golfer. “In South Africa, there are a lot of women who are starting to play,” she says. “It’s one of the fastest-growing sports in the country because you can do it with your kids, you know. And you don’t have to be a perfect golfer to play.” Its expansion means that female athletes like Lee Anne can compete on a bigger scale and against international players. But it’s taken her a long time to be able to swing the perfect shot and win tournaments – and gain a ton of brain re-wiring on the side.
