सदा ज्ञाताश्चित्तवृत्तयस्तत्प्रभोः पुरूषस्यापरिणामित्वात् ॥४.१८॥
Sada Jnatas-Citta-Vrttayas Tat Prabhoh Purushasya-Aparinamit-Vaat (Yoga Sutra 4:18)
The mind is not self-luminous, it being an object of perception. The modifications of the Chitta are always known to its master, the Purusha, since He is not changeable.
Swami Vivekananda says that tremendous power is manifested everywhere in Nature, but it is not self-luminous, not essentially intelligent. The Purusha alone is self-luminous and gives its light to everything. It is the power of Purusha that percolates through all matter and force.
