Patrick Roberts celebrated a milestone Celtic appearance with a characteristically impressive performance to help the Hoops reach the Scottish Cup final

PATRICK Roberts marked his 50th appearance for Celtic in impressive style, producing a superb performance to help the Hoops record a comfortable 2-0 win over Glasgow rivals Rangers last Sunday in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

The winger was named in Brendan Rodgers’ starting XI for the Hampden showdown and proved to be too hot to handle for the opposition throughout the match, also having to withstand several dubious challenges early in the contest.

Now the Hoops can look forward to a Scottish Cup final clash against Aberdeen on May 27, when they will have the chance to complete a domestic treble for the first time since 2001.

And Roberts, who is nearing the end of an 18-month loan spell with Celtic from Manchester City, has been an influential player for the Hoops since his arrival in February 2016. From his first brace against Hearts last April, to his most recent goal against Ross County earlier this month, the 20-year-old has been an outstanding contributor across all competitions. However, the season is far from over, with the champions aiming to maintain their unbeaten domestic run which currently stands at 41 games ahead of this Saturday’s Glasgow derby at Ibrox, while there is also the prospect of the treble.

And Roberts spoke exclusively to the View, reflecting on his milestone 50th appearance for the Hoops.

Congratulations on making your 50th appearance for Celtic. How does it feel?
