Women from Northeast India have always believed in paving their own roads; in fact every major revolution has witnessed women taking the lead. Passionate and driven, hard-working and undeterred, they have proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with. In recent times, many women have also found success in the field of entrepreneurship. The variety and success of businesses run by women from the region showcase that women are not afraid to explore new areas of potential and give back to society while also earning a profit.
Angry Mother Soap Co
If you have a soft spot for natural bath products then you are probably always buying from big brands like Lush or Forest Essentials but what if you could support a home-grown business instead? Angry Mother Soap Co offers an affordable range of bath and body products. Based out of Nagaland, the company was founded by Akitoli Suu.
The best thing about the brand is that they use wonderful ingredients like eucalyptus, clove, watermelon, goat’s milk and more, all of which are really good for your skin. What’s more, since the soaps do not contain any chemicals, you can use the wastewater to water your garden. Think of all the water you will save. You also know the team is really dedicated to the ‘good for the environment’ mission when they even use wrappings made with handmade recycled paper.
You can buy products at their store located in Thilixu, Dimapur. Alternatively, you can also shop for their products online on ilandlo.com.

MUSINGS OF A SOLDIER: TIT-BITS
People often ask me about my life out of uniform. Honestly, I have had no problems. Not so far. Instead, I find it quite refreshing. No routine, no parades, no briefing, no impending operations. Having donned the uniform since the age of thirteen until I hung up my boots last year, could I ever visualize life out of uniform? Not really. But, as I said, the transition has been quite smooth–no hang-overs, no regrets. People have been very positive in their interactions. Government departments have been responsive whenever I have approached for assistance. The genuine respect for the uniform is quite evident and it makes my heart swell with pride. Arunachal, to that extent, is the most nationalistic state in the country, I daresay. It has been kind of a revelation for me to experience the freedom of being a common man in an environment of positivity!
