THESE WOMEN’S JOBS COULDN’T BE MORE DIFFERENT. BUT ALL THREE ARE DEFINITELY BREAKING THE MOULD

Can you guess what we do for a LIVING?

‘ I’ve become a pro at pulling different poses’

Annie Hawkins, 61, found a second career working as a plus-size model.

When my friend bought me a boudoir photo shoot for my 55th birthday, I almost threw the voucher in the bin. I’d worked an office job for most of my career – modelling just wasn’t for me. It took two years before I finally booked it, in 2016. Arriving at the studio, I wondered what on earth I was doing. But as I got chatting to the photographer, telling her about my vintage fashion sense, I relaxed. We went for a cheeky pin-up style and I swapped between a burlesque outfit, lingerie and a faux-fur coat with heels.

With every snap of the camera, my confidence grew and I really enjoyed it. Days later, still feeling the thrill from the shoot, I spotted an advert for a modelling competition for a clothing range – they were looking for ‘bigger ladies’. I was a size 22 at the time and after a Prosecco-fuelled evening, I sent off an email. Before I knew it, 2 000 applicants had been cut down to six – and I was one of them! Since appearing on the clothing store’s website, my life has been filled with modelling jobs and photo shoots. Styled in gorgeous outfits, I’ve become a pro at pulling different poses as the camera flashes hundreds of times. I’ve had people questioning if I am really a model, due to my age and size – but I’m proud to say I most definitely am. It doesn’t matter that I’m a size 22 and 61, I’m still model material.
