INDONESIA
For a relaxing short break on any weekend, Indonesia has plenty of options close to Singapore. Resorts with beaches under an hour away by ferry include on the islands of Bintan and Batam, with the likes of Telunas only a little further afield.
Elsewhere in Indo, head to Bali for beaches, terraced rice paddies, temples, ruins and jungle walks. Luxury villas can be very reasonable if you’re sharing with a group of friends or family. After one visit, you’ll soon see why Balinese food and hospitality are a favourite for Singapore-based expats.
Lombok is described by many as “the Bali of 20 years ago”, and the Gili Islands off its northwest coast are an idyllic hideaway. Manado, meanwhile, is perfect for scuba diving and snorkelling enthusiasts, with stunning scenery and volcanoes.
Telunas Private Island & Beach Resort
Telunas is a slice of paradise just 50km from Singapore, making it perfect for a long weekend getaway. Telunas Private Island is an intimate resort with 15 spacious two-storey Overwater Villas and five couples-only Ridge Villas (each with a private plunge pool). The overwater option comes with a large balcony with a double-chaise lounge to soak in the incredible views. You’ll enjoy front-row seats to spectacular sunrises and unforgettable star displays at night – something we don’t see much in the city! There’s also plenty of space to unwind in your king-size bed, large living room and sleeping loft for kids.
Nearby Telunas Beach Resort has a large beach that’s great for wandering, with lots of activities available such as kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding, deck jumping, traditional fishing, beach volleyball, or simply resting in a hammock with a good book!
