Muscles have miraculous powers of recovery, and the good news is that’s true of your pelvic floor too, says continence nurse Jane Simpson, author of The Pelvic Floor Bible (Penguin Life). The best news of all? It’s never too late to start rehabilitating those vital muscles. Katie Mann, chair of Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy in the UK, has revealed that she successfully helps women even into their 90s! Find out below what you can do...

1 WHAT’S YOUR PROBLEM?

• Stress incontinence Leaking when you cough, laugh, jump or run.

• Urge incontinence You just gotta go!

• Both stress and urge incontinence Don’t despair, it’s very common.

• Overactive bladder Frequently feeling the need to go to the loo, even when you’ve only just been. Anything up to 10 loo trips in 24 hours, including two at night, is normal, says Mann.
